Civil Ceremonies

In the lead up to a Civil Marriage, Wedding Guests are welcomed into the panelled Hall and Drawing Room to assemble. Our Wedding Co-ordinator then directs guests up the ornate staircase into the licensed Ballroom for a unique and intimate service (up to 100 guests).

The Wedgwood suite is available for exclusive use by one partner and their attendants prior to the ceremony; the suite comprises a beautiful room and bathroom located directly opposite the Ballroom, and is also available for use by the couple for the duration of the reception. It must be vacated by 11.45pm.

Charlton Park is licensed to hold civil marriages in the Regency Ballroom for up to 100 guests.

Celebrant Ceremonies

Celebrant ceremonies are a wonderful alternative to both civil and religious ceremonies - the ceremony is bespoke according to the couple's wishes, and can be held anywhere in the house or grounds. The snowdrop woods alongside the main house make an extremely romantic setting for such a ceremony, and there are many outdoor lawns to choose from too. For outdoor ceremonies, the snowdrop wood can hold 100 guests, the croquet and lower lawns can extend to 300+ guests.

A short legal ceremony must take place prior to Celebrant ceremonies to make the marriage official - this can take place on the same day or on a previous day at a Registry Office.

~ Celtic Handfasting ~
